Its time to leave your personal vehicles at home and use public transport to go to work. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) offering a chance to win Dh50,000 as November 1 is celebrated as the Public Transport Day in the city.

The Transport Authority is urging civilians to use various forms of mass transit such as, metro, public buses, tram and marine transit modes like water taxi and water bus on November 1.

There are seven starting points for Contestants to start their journeys, Mall of the Emirates M/S, Burjuman M/S, JBR Tram Station, Al Ghubaiba Water Taxi Station, Dubai Marina Water Taxi Station,   Ibn Battuta Bus Station and Al Ghubaiba Bus Station.

The CEO of Public Transport Agency and Head of Public Transport Day Committee at the RTA, Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, said that, “The RTA has set aside a sum Dh100,000 for two winners; Dh50,000 each. The two winners will be selected from a pool of the most frequent riders of public transport means.”

“To participate in the contest, each team has to work out a strategy for amassing the largest number of points as quick as possible in order to rank among the winners. Three winning teams will be named and rewarded in Dubai Ice Rink of the Dubai Mall; where other fun contests will be run on the Public Transport Day. Participants have to take Selfies with the name of the station on the background,” Al Ali said.
