UAE based students take CBSE exams

An estimated two thousand Indian school students in the UAE have started appearing for the CBSE exams. The exams have started with the English paper for standard 12 on Thursday.

About 1.98 million students in India and other countries are appearing CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) exams for Class 12 and 10 this year.

Standard 12 exams will end on April 29th, with break days in between. While 10th Standard exams will conclude on April 12th, also with breaks in between. Results of both the examinations are expected in mid-May.

This is the last academic year, where students could have opted for a school-based Scheme-1 for 10th standard, instead of the board-based Scheme-2 exam. From next academic year (2017-18) students in CBSE affiliated schools have to choose the board-based 10th standard exams.

Whereas the mandatory school-leaving 12th standard board exam will continue as usual. Results from these board exams weigh heavily on students for university admission and study prospects.

UAE School principals spoke with local news said that the exams had a smooth start, with Thursday’s paper widely reported as being easy. The CBSE exam seasons are generally said to be stressful for students, who have access to exam stress counseling by trained professionals.
