Indian worker dies at Qatar World Cup stadium site

An Indian steelworker has died at the  Al-Bayt 2022 World Cup Stadium construction site after he get ill, the organizing committee of tournament announced.

Jaleshwar Prasad, 48, was taken to the hospital, after suffering a cardiac arrest  at the Al Bayt stadium  in the Qatari city of al-Khor, but he pronounced dead after some two hours.

According to the Qatar's Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy of the 2022 World Cup, they have launched the probe to determine the cause behind death of Indian worker.

The  committee’s statement, said that, “Mr Prasad fell ill on-site around 9:30 am on Wednesday 27 April.”

“He received first-aid treatment until paramedics arrived. He was transferred to Al Khor Hospital but sadly passed away around 11:30 am.”

“Our prayers and heartfelt condolences are with them at such a difficult time,” the committee said.

Several  human rights organizations reported the very poor condition of worker at the construction site of the Qatar World Cup stadiums. At present, there are around 5,100 workers are employed at the  World Cup sites.
