After thousands of protestors took to the streets of  Egypt following a week of gruesome bloodbath that left 50 dead in the country, the Egyptian army forcefully ousted the Islamist President Mohammed Mursi last night, bringing a closure to his year of tumultuous reign.

The news, that was communicated by Mursi's defence minister, armed forces chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, sent a wave of euphoria across millions of protestors camped on the streets of the capital. The anti-Mursi protestors gathered in the Tahrir Square cheered, whistled, honked and lighted firecrackers as they hailed their new-found freedom from oppression.

General Sisi further announced the annulment of the Islamist-drafted constitution and also spoke about presidential elections that will be held soon.
