An Indian banker in Qatar has been awarded for promoting green economy. R Seetharaman honored for his contribution in environment-friendly activities for nearly two decades.

Seetharaman who is the group chief executive officer of Doha Bank has been honoured with the 'Green Economy Visionary award' at the 2016 Union of Arab Banks International Banking Summit held in Rome.

The award was given by Mohammed Jarrah Al-Sabah, chairman of Union of Arab Banks. Seetharaman is a recipient of multiple doctorates.

Doha Bank was incorporated in 1978 and commenced its banking business (including its international banking services) in Doha, Qatar on March 15, 1979.
