Yummy Persian Chicken Curry

The Persian cuisine is very healthy as most of its recipes require herbs, nuts, fresh fruits, vegetables, rice along with chicken, meat, lamb or fish. Here is a simple chicken recipe cooked in Persian style.

It's yummy, easy to cook and can be prepared in a short time.

Ingredients

750 grams Chicken with bone
2tbsp Olive oil
2tbsp Butter
2 medium Onions, sliced thinly
2 medium Tomatoes, pureed
5-6 cloves of Garlic
1 Pomegranate, seeds separated
1/4 cup Walnuts, roasted
1 Lemon
A pinch of Cinnamon powder
Back Peppercorns, crushed (according to taste)
Salt according to taste

Method

Step 1: Take a non stick pan, heat butter and olive oil before adding the onions. Add crushed garlic and cook for a minute. Now add the chicken and stir for 2-3 minutes. Add some salt and mix with the chicken.

Step 2: Keep stiring till chicken turns light brown in color. Then add black peppercorns (freshly crushed) and cinnamon powder, and mix properly. After that you can add the pureed tomatoes and mix with chicken.

Step 3: Take half of the pomegranate seeds and grind in a mixer. Add this puree to the chicken dish. Also rinse the grinder with water and add the water to the chicken.

Step 4: Next you need to add the walnuts and mix with chicken. Add crushed peppercorns and salt according to your taste and cook till the chicken is tender. Now add the juice of 1 lemon and mix properly. Use the remaining pomegranate seeds and roasted walnuts to garnish the chicken dish.

Persian Chicken Curry tastes best when served hot.
