Aditya Dhar's movie Dhurandhar has seen outstanding success at the box office, raking in Rs 1222 crore globally after being in theatres for 33 days. The film features Ranveer Singh and has broken significant records even though it wasn't shown in the Middle East. According to early reports, on Tuesday, Dhurandhar was only 8 crore away from matching the total earnings of SS Rajamouli's RRR, being on the verge of becoming the 4th highest-grossing Indian film ever. A large share of Dhurandhar's worldwide earnings has come from foreign markets, especially in North America. The film has collected $31.5 million abroad, fueled by an unprecedented success in the US and Canada. As of Tuesday, it has become the second Indian movie to earn $20 million in these regions, outpacing films like RRR ($15.3 million), Jawan ($15.6 million), and Kalki 2898 AD ($18 million). It is now approaching the North American record held by Baahubali 2, which earned $20.7 million.
Even without a release in the Middle East, a vital market for Indian films, Dhurandhar has shown strong performance in other international areas. In India, the film has made Rs 938 crore, with net earnings of Rs 781.75 crore as of Tuesday evening. Daily earnings have fallen below 5 crore after five weeks, but it still competes well against new releases. The film showcases Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an Indian agent who goes undercover to infiltrate gang and terror groups in Karachi. Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan also play important roles in the film. The plot and action scenes have been pointed out as vital reasons for its lasting appeal. The creators have also revealed plans for a sequel, with Part 2 of Dhurandhar set to hit screens in March 2026.
